Walla Walla is a cyclist’s dream. Beloved for the rural farm roads that meander through rolling wheat fields, friendly drivers and lots of fellow cyclists, Walla Walla is celebrated as Washington’s top road cycling destination. The nearby Blue Mountains offer experienced riders steep climbs and sharp turns to attack, while the flat lands and paved trails that run through Walla Walla’s historic neighborhoods and farmlands are perfect for a cruise. An easy ride from town, Bennington Lake offers challenging mountain bike trails. The nearby Blue Mountains offer miles and miles of single track trails for mountain bike adventures. Fort Walla Walla Park gives BMX bikers and skaters of all ages a place to show off their skills.

The pro-style BMX track is host to competitions throughout the year, while the nearby skateboard park is the perfect place to dial in a new trick. At the Mill Creek Sportsplex you can ride a new skatepark designed by the renowned Oregon-based, Dreamland Skateparks.

From ever-present public art to the longest running symphony west of the Mississippi, to the theaters, museums and displays of art found throughout the region, Walla Walla is as fertile ground for culture as it is for grapes.

Musicals, comedy and drama can be found on stage in several locations in the Valley. The Little Theatre of Walla Walla, Whitman College’s Harper Joy Theatre, Walla Walla University, and Walla Walla Community College all provide top-notch performances throughout the year.

The recent renovation of the former Walla Walla Gas Plant into the 340-seat Power House Theater provides a home for Shakespeare Walla Walla and a venue for other live shows. The design was inspired by Shakespeare’s Blackfriars Theatre in London.

During the twice-annual Walla Walla Chamber Music Festival, music fills the streets, restaurants, libraries and parks of Walla Walla. A host of acclaimed, award-winning musicians take to the streets and transform three weeks of summer and a week of winter into an ongoing musical experience.

You’ll find bluegrass, jazz, blues, rock and every genre you can imagine in Walla Walla’s performance halls, restaurants and public spaces.

Walla Walla is located on the Oregon Trail, where the Whitman Mission National Historic Site attracts thousands of visitors each year. A trip through the mission provides a deep education into a tragic and controversial story that you and your kids won’t find in a textbook.
